38 Degrees and Raining 38 degrees and rainin’ from an angry sky 38 degrees and rainin’ and I cannot deny That it wearies my soul It wearies my soul 38 degrees and rainin’ and my heart has turned blue 38 degrees and rainin’ and I worry about you I can hear you cry I can hear you cry I don’t mind the drivin’ snow a hot summer day over Ohio Lightning strikes on the banks of the Ponchetrain But something about that cold cold rain Turns my strong into weak again Leaves me strapped like a ball to chain alone 38 degrees and rainin’ you can smell how it feels All good liars borrow but the great ones steal See the great one roam Now we watch him roam But there’s a line that’s plain to me between liberty and a felony Every man’s gotta walk that line alone Where’s the power of honesty when it’s been robbed of its dignity Call the children, have them come back home I’d be on a chair and shoutin’ like an auctioneer If I thought any man or deity could actually hear Hear me moan Hear me moan But I’ll walk out, I’ll face the sky, I’ll curse the clouds as they thunder by They can’t dim the fire of this family home One day soon the skies will part, the light will warm every weary heart Call the children, have them come back home 38 degrees and rainin’

LYRICS: You Always Do That To Me – Sometimes You bend the blues You count by two’s I howl at night You set me right And you always do That to me sometimes Old things seem new Lies now seem true Mud fills my shoes Black turns to blue And you always do That to me sometimes Seafoam green thistles in your hair A diamond smile in the midnight air Healing strokes from your fingertips Tighten into a lover’s grip I dine on my regrets You thrive on second bets I plead the fifth degree You see the best in me And you always do That to me sometimes And you always do That to me sometimes

LYRICS: We Will Walk Through The Streets Of The City We will walk through the streets of that city That our loving ones have gone on before We will dance on the bank of the river We will study war no more I am weak but as one we are mighty We now join as one powerful hand We will move with all merciful wisdom We will sing in the liberty band We will walk through the streets of that city That our loving ones have gone on before We will dance on the bank of the river We will study war no more There’s a soul in the songs of this city There’s a soul in the sight of the blind In our numbers there’s heavenly power That no one man alone can deny We will walk through the streets of that city That our loving ones have gone on before We will dance on the bank of the river We will study war no more To every pain, sin, sickness or sorrow We’ll bring hope with our arms open wide We’ll speak out to the preachers of power With the sunshine of truth on our side We will walk through the streets of that city That our loving ones have gone on before We will dance on the bank of the river We will study war no more We will walk through the streets of that city That our loving ones have gone on before We will dance on the bank of the river We will study war no more We will dance on the bank of the river We will study war no more

LYRICS: Here’s The Thing About America Here’s the thing about America She’s dirty as she’s clean She’s as gentle as she’s mean She’s everything between Sheer hell and fantasy She’ll take the best of you And send it off to war No telling what it’s for Leave your lover at the door Or in the vestibule The workin’ man can’t understand Why his world don’t seem free Here’s the thing about America if you wield the heavy tool If you play by all the rules In the end you feel the fool When she leaves none for you She’ll sing “equality” As if she means every word As if all those cries were heard As if color lines were blurred Just don’t sit next to me The workin’ man can’t understand Why his world don’t seem free (not one shred of dignity) There’s sin in silence They say the lone wolf dies But the pack always survives We won’t know unless we try To finally prove it Here’s the thing about America It’s only ours if we claim it If we must then let’s reshape it Lest the young rightfully blame it On our apathy The workin’ man can’t understand Why his world don’t seem free (won’t you take this walk with me)

about

We all await the day when the tumult of the last several years and the crushing weight of the pandemic will be only a memory. Ironically living through the challenge forged the shape of this collection of songs. Collectively they tell a more focused story than the original project we envisioned. That story is woven from a single thread – that we can overcome even the unimaginable when we join together. Now, we are poised to put that belief to the test.

Thanks for listening,
Chuck
